Stroud Film Festival: Films Connected with Craft

Monday 4th March 7.30 - 10pm

Join us here at Victoria Works Studios for an illuminating night of cinema and conversation shining a light on the world of contemporary craft. The evening will commence with a selection of short films exploring the themes of material, process, and connection to place within making practices.

Following the screenings, stick around for a panel discussion with Paul Harper and authors Katy Bevan and Charlotte Abrahams, plus special guests, discussing their book Intelligent Hands: Why making is a skill for life from Quickthorn Books, which intimately chronicles the spaces where creativity, education and wellbeing converge. From the importance of manual skill to the challenges and benefits of Artificial Intelligence, the conversation promises an in-depth look into the role of craft in our lives and the things that make us uniquely human.

Whether a lifelong artist, weekend tinkerer, or simply craft-curious, the event offers inspiration and appreciation for the maker’s hand imprinting humanity’s mark on the wondrous materials of our world.
