Apr Terracotta Placemat Set Workshop
Sunday 5th April, 10-4pm, £75
Join resident ceramicist, Akiyama Naoko (founder of Gourd and Horse) and learn techniques in working with terracotta clay.
During the day, you will learn to make a placemat (with coasters) in terracotta clay, which can be enjoyed at your table for hot dishes, or as a rustic adornment for your home or outdoor space.
In a small, supportive group, Aki will teach you how to understand the nature of terracotta clay and help you create your own design on paper first and then assist you to translate this into clay. Throughout the process, Aki will instruct you how to handle clay tools and give you tips for cutting out and making marks.
Beginners are very welcome. Aki will help you in your plans and encourage you whatever your level of experience.
All materials are provided for this workshop. Please bring an old towel, apron and wear old clothes and covered shoes. Terracotta clay can stain!
Please note, it will take at least two weeks to dry and fire the work, so you will need to collect your pieces from Aki at Victoria Works Studios, 2-4 weeks from the workshop date. If you cannot collect within the time you will have to pay for the postage costs of sending your work to you.
We can accept other methods of payment, please get in touch if you would like to pay via bank transfer or cheque: bookings@VictoriaWorksStudios.co.uk
