Elevate your Summer table this year with your very own hand block printed napkins. Why not join this fun and relaxed one day workshop with printmaker and fabric designer Lizzie Mabley, Lizzie will guide you through the process of designing and carving your own lino printing block which you will use to create your own unique set of cotton napkins - perfect for all your summer time entertaining!

Starting with a discussion of the practical process and demonstration, looking at examples of design and colour, you will learn how to carve your own lino block. You will then move onto mixing your chosen shade from the eco friendly base colours, be shown how to apply the ink to the block and the best techniques for getting a beautiful crisp print. After practising the technique with test prints you will go on to create your own gorgeous and unique napkins.

We will be working on a design of approximately 10 x 10 cm so if you have any ideas, please bring them along and Lizzie will help you simplify your design if necessary.  There will be lots of ideas to help you and examples of previous students work to show you what is achievable in the day.

This course is suitable for beginners as well as those who have done some lino printing before, the day will be relaxed and informal. All materials will be provided. Please bring old clothes or an apron as the inks we use will stain!
