Printing with Recycled Materials

Printing with Recycled Materials
Saturday 24th January, 10-4pm, £85
Join print maker and experienced tutor, Christine Felce for a one day exploration into printing with recycled materials that is suitable for all abilities. You will be shown a variety of hand printing techniques and will also have the use of an etching press.
This is a really fun and engaging class and you will go home with armfuls of beautiful prints. During the course we will explore the mark making potential from the plastic boxes and cartons we all have in our recycling. You will be shown how to cut and draw into tetra pack containers and use them to print amazing colourful plates using the etching press, etching needles and simple tools to create detailed fine lines and textures. The workshop will cover both printing in relief - from the surface of your recycled plates - and also how to print in intaglio - using damped paper in a similar way to etching. During the day you will be able to print onto a variety of papers including cotton rag etching paper using artist quality oil based water washable etching ink.
All materials supplied
This class is about the joy of printing on paper but the tetra pack plates that you make can also be used to print onto fine cotton fabric if you are interested in working on other surfaces when you get home, do bring along some fine cotton if you would like to try printing onto fabric.
Please wear old clothes or an old apron in case the paint gets on your clothes.
