During this artist-led immersive workshop, Sophie Learmont from Starlingpots Ceramics will take you through the design and making process to create a beautiful stoneware platter.

You will learn how to work with the Stoneware clay - known for it’s durability, natural beauty and tactile quality - to create a beautiful hand built platter, then use oxides and underglazes to paint onto your plate. Everyone’s work will be unique, using your own chosen colour palette and composition, Sophie will guide you gently through the whole process and there will be tons of inspiration. This class is Suitable for all - for beginners who would like to learn something new and those more confident with painting or working with clay who would like to extend their skills and enjoy a relaxing nurturing workshop.  Sophie is an experienced teacher and will tailor the day to suit your abilities.  She also the brains behind wonderful ceramic studio StarlingPots and you can see her work in many shops, cafes and small independent businesses in Gloucestershire and beyond, her work is also featured regularly in well known interiors magazines such as Good Housekeeping and Period Living, so you’ll be learning from the best!

At the end of the workshop, your platter will be carefully dried, kiln fire and glazed ready to collect from Victoria Works Studios in 3 weeks time. 

All materials provided, please wear old clothes or bring an apron.
