A fantastic opportunity to join celebrated artist Helen Masacz for a weekend of creativity and discovery in this fantastic two day still life oil painting workshop. The weekend begins with lots of inspiration and a fascinating demonstration on using oils. You will then begin to get hands on as you create your very own still life, using unique personal items within a cardboard box, Helen is on hand to help with composition, lighting and techniques, you will then use this personal still life as the inspiration for your weekend of painting and drawing. Begin by exploring the process of underpainting and drawing with raw umber looking at the order of value and shadow shapes. There will be tons of one to one help in this small group workshop as you refine your initial drawing to create a finished piece by the end of the weekend.

You will learn to : 

- Draw sight size
- Organise a still life with a simple value range
- Set out a colour palette and mix accurate colour values
- Paint handling and edge control.

Please bring: 1 - 5 small personal items that you might like to paint , it can be absolutely anything you find interesting; skulls, flowers, vintage jewellery, an old toy, a special hat, a favourite mug or treasured book. But don’t worry if you aren’t sure what to bring Helen will have a supply of interesting objects for you to choose from and to inspire you.
