Join artist and tutor Sophie Learmont from Starlingpots for this fun and relaxed one day workshop using the finest stoneware clay and hand-building techniques to make your very own mug.

Sophie will guide you through the process of designing and making your own perfect mug, with the possibility to extend your skills into making other small ceramic vessels such as a little matching pot to pop your teabag/sugar/biscuit in, a jug or even a second mug to make a pair. You will learn how to work with the Stoneware clay - known for its durability, natural beauty and tactile quality, to create a beautiful and unique hand built mug. This workshop is perfect for beginners or anyone who's dabbled with clay before, come solo or with a group of friends. You will be hands-on throughout the day shaping your mug, Sophie will then demonstrate several different decorating techniques so you can add your personal touch every step of the way using impressions, coloured slips, underglazes, masking and clay additions. 

At the end of the workshop, your Mug will be carefully dried, bisque fired, clear glazed glaze fired to make it food and dishwasher safe. Get the kettle on - it will be ready to collect from Victoria Works Studios in 4 weeks time. 

All materials and tuition are provided, just bring along an apron and a smile.
