Surf’s Up!
Create your own stunning piece of glass art in this relaxed and creative fused glass workshop. During the session, you’ll learn the fascinating process of glass fusion, from cutting and layering coloured glass to creating your own wave-inspired design. Your piece will then be kiln-fired to fuse the layers together before being slumped over a mould to create its beautiful curved shape. You’ll have a gorgeous selection of sea-inspired glass colours to work with, along with Frit (crushed glass) which will add texture, movement and detail to your Wave. Your finished wave will measure approximately 25cm wide x 19cm tall — the perfect size to display on a tabletop, mantelpiece or windowsill. Relax, create and make it your own. Your tutor Caroline Lambert is an established stained-glass artist with over 20 years’ experience teaching locally. Known for her enthusiasm, patience and supportive approach, Caroline will guide you through every stage of the process. Come along, get creative and make a beautiful piece of sea-inspired glass art to enjoy for years to come.
This is a friendly, fully guided workshop with clear, step-by-step instruction throughout. You don’t need any previous glassmaking experience — just bring your creativity and enjoy the process of making a completely unique piece of glass art. What happens afterwards? Once you’ve completed your design, it will be taken back to Caroline’s studio for kiln firing and slumping. Your finished piece will then be returned to Victoria Works for collection approximately 2 weeks later.
Please note The workshop involves periods of standing, as well as working with glass and specialist tools, so a good level of manual dexterity is required. This workshop is suitable for ages 16+ only.
